Harlyn Bay: About the area
Harlyn is a small village on the north coast of Cornwall, England. It is situated three miles from the bustling harbour of Padstow and about one mile from the village of St. Merryn where you will find local shops and restaurants.
Harlyn Bay is a family and dog friendly beach and home Harlyn Surf School where you can take lessons in surfing, kayaking, paddle boarding or coasteering. It is situated on the coastal path between the neighbouring bays of Mother Ivey's and Trevone with its rockpools and its natural outdoor pool.
If you are a golf fan then look no further! Trevose Golf & Country Club with its Championship course is a 10 minute drive and St Enodoch Golf Club, which boasts two of the most beautiful links courses in the county, is a 30 minute drive away.
There are many wonderful pubs and restaurants in this area. The Pig at Harlyn Bay is a ten minute walk from the house and Rick Stein's pub The Cornish Arms is a five minute drive in St Merryn. Many more eateries can be found in Padstow itself and in Rock - a short ferry ride across the estuary from Padstow.
When you are not relaxing on the beach or in the garden you are spoilt for choice of things to do in the area. The cycling path of the Camel Trail starts in Padstow and The Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Crealys Adventure Park, Bodmin, Wadebridge and Newquay are all short drives away. Other gorgeous surfing beaches at Constantine Bay, Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay are also all well worth a visit.
Swimming, golfing, surfing, walking, cycling, coasteering, adventure parks, farm visits, go karting, National Trust properties, gardens, farm visits, winery visits or simply building sandcastles, kicking back and relaxing ... whatever your fancy, this area of Cornwall has it all and Spindrifts is the perfect base for a wonderful holiday.
After over 25 years of visiting Harlyn Bay we'd be happy to give you advice on where to visit or eat. If you need any recommendations just let us know.

Padstow
At Padstow harbour you can stroll the streets, go shopping, eat at one of the many restaurants (not ALL of them are owned by Rick Stein!), enjoy a pasty or fish 'n' chips! You can go crabbing on the harbour's edge or catch the little ferry across to Rock. There are many fishing excursions available to go up the estuary or further out to sea and this is also where the cycle hire for the Camel Trail can be found.
